No-man's Land

No-man's Land

{written & drawn 2007}

8

The eyes of the desert are sharp

unmerciful

blazing through dry heat

this is No-man's Land

8

Bones collected

from atop a black rocky mountain

lay now

resurrected

reconstructed

on the sand

Ribs aligned along the spine

meatless limbs stretched out

8

The skull of the goat

lay peaceful in his Death

blanched & smooth

kissed with rose oil

& gifts from the sea

8

The wind is the only salvation

to the blazing sun

A salvation to destruction

until the Great Red Eye closes

for the moon to show her compassion
